How Mighty Works Inside Articulate Rise 360
A practical walkthrough of installing the Mighty Chrome Extension, spotting Mighty features in Rise, and publishing courses with Mighty enhancements included.

Here’s how the Mighty Chrome Extension works, where it shows up in Rise, and what happens when you preview, share, or publish a course that uses Mighty features.
What the Mighty Chrome Extension actually does#
Mighty is a Chrome Extension from Maestro that sits on top of Articulate Rise 360 while you work in the browser.
Once it’s installed, you’ll see a small M icon when you’re working in Rise. That’s your clue that Mighty is active.
Under the hood, the extension adds additional code to the Rise product in your browser. Practically speaking, that means Mighty can introduce new controls, blocks, and enhancements right inside the familiar Rise editing experience.
The important part: you’re still working in Rise. You’re still building lessons, adding blocks, previewing, and publishing through the Rise workflow you already know. Mighty just adds extra functionality where Rise is more limited.
That matters because the alternative is usually a lot less friendly: export the course, unzip the package, modify files manually, test carefully, zip it back up, and hope nothing breaks before it reaches your LMS. Mighty is designed to avoid that after-the-fact scramble.
Install Mighty in Chrome or Edge#
Mighty is a Chrome Extension, and it also works in Microsoft Edge.
To install it, you have a few options:
- Search Google for Mighty Chrome Extension.
- Open the Chrome extension listing and choose Add to Chrome.
- Or, visit the Mighty site and use the install option from there.
- If you’re already in the Mighty portal, follow the install process provided there.
Once the extension is installed, open Articulate Rise 360 in Chrome or Edge. When Mighty is active, you’ll see the Mighty M icon appear in the Rise interface.

Look for the Mighty magenta cues#

That distinction is helpful, especially when you’re working with teammates or documenting a course build. Rise still has its native features and limitations; Mighty just adds companion functionality on top of them.
For example, in the video walkthrough, Mighty appears in the Theme area and inside individual lessons. The extension adds extra controls and blocks while keeping them embedded in the editor flow.
Use Mighty options in the Theme tab#
One place Mighty shows up is under the Theme tab.
From there, you can use Mighty-added options such as:
- Updating the Begin button
- Adding custom code
In the walkthrough, the Begin button setting is used to change locations. As soon as the change is made, Mighty applies it directly to the course. You don’t have to wait until after publishing to see whether your enhancement worked. Mighty integrates with Rise so the change is applied in the course while you’re building, which lets you preview and adjust in the flow of work.
For teams with brand or stakeholder requirements, this is often the difference between “we can make that happen in the editor” and “we’ll need a custom post-publish process every time this course changes.”
Explore Mighty features inside lessons#
Mighty also adds functionality inside Rise lessons.
When you open a lesson, you’ll see Mighty enhancements alongside your normal Rise editing tools. The exact set of features may change over time, but the walkthrough calls out two broad areas:
- A growing set of Mighty blocks
- Modifications to existing Rise editing areas, marked by those magenta indicators
Mighty is meant to feel like a companion to Rise: you keep using lessons, blocks, and the editor, but you get access to additional options where Mighty has extended the experience.
This is especially helpful on tight timelines. If you’re already deep into a Rise build, you don’t want to rebuild a lesson somewhere else just to add one interaction or customization. Mighty’s approach keeps the work close to the course structure you already have.
Preview your course with Mighty#
When you preview your course, Mighty functionality is available in that preview as long as the Mighty Chrome Extension is installed.
That includes previewing your own course while you build. It also applies when someone else is viewing a Rise share link with the Mighty extension installed.
So if you send a share link to a teammate who also has Mighty installed, they can view the course with the Mighty functionality in place. That can be useful during internal review, especially when you’re checking layout, interaction behavior, or custom enhancements before publishing.
A practical note: because the extension is what enables Mighty functionality inside the Rise editing and share-link experience, reviewers who need to see those enhancements during this stage should have the extension installed too.
Publish with Mighty functionality included#
Publishing is where a lot of Rise customization workflows get fragile. Mighty is designed to keep this part simple.
When you publish your Rise course, whether that’s for Review or for an LMS, Mighty adds its functionality into the published output.
In the walkthrough, publishing triggers a Mighty screen that takes over the workflow briefly. Rise builds the course package, and then Mighty appends the additional Mighty functionality into the resulting zip file.
The end result is the package you need for hosting or uploading to your LMS, with the Mighty enhancements included.
Learners won’t be using your authoring browser with your extension installed. So, for the published course experience, Mighty’s functionality needs to be present in the course package itself. The publish workflow handles that step for you.
What happens to your Mighty data?#
One of the more reassuring details from the walkthrough is that your Mighty data is saved directly in your Rise course.
If you copy a course or send it to someone else, you don’t have to worry that the Mighty work is stored only on your machine and disappears the moment another designer opens the course.
For L&D teams, that helps reduce handoff risk. Courses get duplicated, localized, updated six months later, or passed from one designer to another. Keeping the Mighty-related data with the Rise course makes those normal lifecycle moments less brittle.
Why this matters for real Rise projects#
Rise is great, especially for fast, responsive course builds. But most instructional designers eventually run into moments where the native options don’t quite cover the experience they want.
Maybe a client needs a different cover-page behavior. Maybe your brand system calls for more polish than the default settings allow. Maybe a stakeholder wants an interaction that feels more tailored than the standard block library.
