How to Manage a Mighty Team Plan
Invite teammates, adjust seats, manage billing, and understand team roles in Mighty with this practical step-by-step guide.
When your Rise 360 work happens across a team, logistics matter: who has a license, who gets the invoice, and how quickly you can add someone when a deadline shifts. Mighty team plans are built to keep that admin work simple, so your team can spend more time building courses and less time chasing down passwords and managing access.
Here’s the step-by-step process, from signing up for a trial to inviting teammates, changing roles, updating seats, and managing billing.
Start from the Mighty portal#
You can get to the Mighty portal by downloading the Mighty Chrome extension or from the Mighty site. When you’re there, here’s how to proceed:
- In the Mighty portal, select Sign up.
- Enter your work email address.
- Check your email for a login code.
- Enter that code back in the Mighty portal.
Mighty uses a passwordless login system, so you won’t create or remember another password.
The first time you enter the portal, you’ll see a short setup dialogue. Add your name, choose your role if prompted, share how you heard about Mighty, and accept the terms of service.
After that, you’ll land on the dashboard. This is where you can see how many days are left in your free trial and open the plan options.
Choose the right plan for your team#
When you’re ready to purchase, select View Plans from the dashboard.
You’ll see individual and team options. If you’re the only person using Mighty, an individual plan may be enough. If you have multiple Rise builders, a team plan gives you a cleaner way to manage access and billing.
A few details to know as you compare options:
- Annual plans save 40% compared with the monthly total.
- Monthly plans are available if your Rise work comes and goes, or if you only need Mighty for a shorter stretch.
- Team pricing lets you increase the number of creators so you can preview the cost before purchasing.
- Teams with five creators or more receive an additional 15% savings.
- Team plans include group billing, so your finance team can work from one invoice instead of several individual subscriptions.
That group billing point is especially useful in larger organizations. If you’ve ever tried to reconcile five separate subscriptions across five corporate cards, you know why one invoice is better.
How to purchase a team plan#
Once you’ve decided how many creators you need, choose the billing cadence and complete checkout.
For example, if you have five team members and want to start monthly:
- In View Plans, go to the team plan area.
- Increase the number of creators to 5.
- Choose the Monthly option.
- Enter your payment information on the checkout screen.
- Complete the purchase.
After the purchase is successful, you’ll land on a subscribed page confirming that you and your team are good to go.
From there, return to the homepage. You should now see that you’re on a team subscription.
Set up your team#
The next step is to add the people who need access.
- From the Mighty homepage, select Manage Team.
- Review your current plan information.
- Use the team member table to see available seats and existing members.
- Select Invite Member.
- Enter the teammate’s email address.
- Select Send.
That creates an invitation for the person to join your team. Mighty sends them an email with the basics they need to get started, including how to log in, where to get the Chrome extension, and how to join Mighty’s community of users—a space we share tutorials, our code catalog, live events, monthly meetups, and more.
You don’t have to write a separate onboarding note unless you want to. The invite email handles the essential “here’s where to start” information.
If you only manage billing, don’t use up a creator seat#
Sometimes the person purchasing Mighty is not the person building in Rise 360.
Maybe you’re a team lead, procurement partner, operations manager, or department owner. You need to own the subscription and billing, but you don’t actually need to use Mighty inside Rise.
Mighty supports that.
In Manage Team, you can change your own role to Owner, billing only. When you do, your account no longer takes up one of the creator seats in the plan.
So, if you purchase a five-creator team plan and switch yourself to a billing-only owner, the table updates to give you five available rows for five actual creators.
This is a small but important administrative detail. You shouldn’t have to buy an extra seat just because the cardholder is different from the course developer.
Understanding Mighty team roles#
Mighty gives team members different roles depending on what they need to manage.
The key distinction from the walkthrough is:
- Owner: Can manage the plan itself, including plan and billing-related changes.
- Billing-only owner: Can own billing without occupying a creator seat.
- Admin: Can manage the team, but cannot edit the plan itself.
If someone else should help invite or manage teammates, update that person to an Admin role from the team table.
If you ever need to transfer ownership of a team plan, reach out to Mighty support. Ownership transfer is handled by the support team so billing and team ownership move cleanly to the right person.
How to add or remove seats#
Teams change. Someone new joins a project, a contractor rolls off, a department pauses Rise production for a month and picks it back up later.
You can adjust Mighty seats from the team management area.
- Go to Manage Team.
- Select Manage Seats.
- In the Stripe management area, choose Update Subscription.
- Increase or decrease the number of seats.
- Continue through the confirmation steps.
You can use this to add more creators or reduce the number of seats you’re carrying.
In the video example, the team plan starts with five seats and is reduced to three. After confirming the change, Mighty shows three available rows back in the team table.
How prorated billing works#
Seat changes are prorated.
If you remove seats partway through the month, Mighty prorates the difference and applies the remaining value as a credit. That credit reduces the next invoice.
If you add seats partway through the month, you’re charged only for the prorated portion of the current billing period. If there are only a few days left in the month, that added-seat charge reflects just those remaining days. The following month, the subscription renews with everyone counted as a full seat.
Reassign seats as people come and go#
Mighty seats are tied to your team account, not permanently locked to one person.
You can remove people and add others throughout the month or year. There isn’t a restriction on how often you can change which team members are using the available licenses.
That flexibility is helpful for L&D teams where Rise production is rarely steady. One month, your compliance team may be building heavily. The next month, a product enablement team may need the seats instead.
As long as you have the right number of seats for the people actively using Mighty, you can adjust the roster as needed.
Manage invoices, payment details, and cancellation#
The same management area also gives you access to subscription administration.
From Manage Seats or Manage Plan, you can open the Stripe management area to:
- Update card information.
- Update billing information.
- View invoices.
- Change the number of seats.
- Cancel the subscription.
If you cancel, Mighty confirms the cancellation with you. Your plan remains active through the end of the current monthly or annual subscription period, and then it does not renew.
And if your organization needs a different invoice process, reach out to the Mighty support team. The team can help answer questions and point you in the right direction.
Why this matters for Rise teams#
A team plan is not just a pricing structure. It solves a very real workflow problem for instructional design teams using Rise 360.
When course work is shared across multiple designers, you need a simple way to:
- Give access to the right people quickly.
- Keep billing centralized.
- Avoid wasting seats on non-builders.
- Adjust licenses as projects expand or contract.
- Keep admins involved without handing over full plan ownership.
That’s the kind of behind-the-scenes structure that helps teams move faster without making a mess of procurement, invoices, or access requests.
If your Rise work is expanding beyond one person, set up a Mighty team plan, invite your creators, and use roles intentionally. A few minutes in Manage Team can save a lot of back-and-forth later.
