Document Stack is a multi-tab document viewer interactive for Mighty Studio, built for presenting mixed-media content (text, images, audio, video, YouTube/Vimeo embeds, and PDFs) in a paginated, tabbed layout styled like a physical paper stack.
Authors configure everything through the Studio form: choose from five layout presets (Storyline classic, Reading, Clinical, Training, or Compact), five paper styles (stacked, notebook, clipboard, medical chart, or folder), and a full theme panel for colors, fonts, and an illustration/watermark system with configurable position, size, and opacity — background color now supports a transparent option.
Each tab holds an ordered set of content blocks that authors add and arrange freely, including rich text, dividers, uploaded audio and video, uploaded images, PDFs (rendered client-side via PDF.js with zoom, page-jump, and fullscreen popout), and embedded YouTube or Vimeo video with optional scrub-lock to prevent skipping ahead.
Completion tracking is flexible: the whole interactive can mark complete immediately, after all tabs are visited, after all media is viewed, or both — and each individual tab can additionally set its own completion rule (visit only, view all media, or both) with a toggle to make any tab optional. Tab transitions are customizable across seven animation styles with adjustable duration and easing, and the layout is responsive down to mobile widths.
Shape a document flow
Give each tab a main label and a short cue. Then add a page heading and arrange its content blocks underneath.
The example flow moves through these purposes:
- Overview for the introduction
- Details for core content
- Resources for references
- Next Steps for action
Learners select a side tab to open its page in the paper stack.
Match completion to the task
Use visit-only completion when learners only need to open each tab. Require media viewing when playback matters. Combine both when learners must visit tabs and view media.
Set one rule for the whole viewer and separate rules for individual tabs. Mark reference tabs optional when they should not block completion.

- Can I stop learners from skipping embedded video?
- Yes. Turn on scrub-lock for embedded YouTube or Vimeo video to prevent skipping ahead.
- Can learners read an uploaded PDF inside the viewer?
- Yes. The PDF opens inside the tab. Learners can zoom, jump to a page, or open it fullscreen.
