Personalize text with learner's name

By Mighty

Create a course that reads a little more like it’s speaking to the learner instead of at them, with minimal effort for you as the author. Learners enter their name a single time, early in the course. You decide where the name appears in subsequent paragraphs throughout the course. This is a template with two parts. Place the template early in the course with the default “Ask for name here” turned on so the learner can enter their name. Place the template with “Ask for name here” toggled off thereafter and to author paragraphs with personalization by including {{name}} wherever the learner’s should appear in your text. All text except that in the entry field is editable with the rich text editor. NOTE: This Mighty Studio template stores the learner name input in the browser's local storage so that name will then be readable by other paragraph blocks in the same course, in any lesson, for the rest of that browsing session — and it will even remain if they close the tab and come back later on the same device/browser. However, the name input won't follow the learner to a different device. With this information in mind, when you are ready to test how the layout looks at any point in your course development after including this personalization template, it is strongly recommended to duplicate the course for testing or be prepared to clear your browser cache.
